Sources

The basic source for this lineage is William C. Kiessel, The Green Family, a Dynasty of Printers, New England Historical and Genealogical Register 104 (1950): 81-93. Kiessel’s treatment of lines that did not persist in printing is quite limited, however, and his minimal information on the first American generation has been superseded by Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620–1633, 3 vols. (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1995), 2:809-10. Evidence for the final two generations of Joanna’s line appears in Austin W. Spencer, Abdication and Succession: Thomas4 Green of Boston and the Dynasty of Printers, Genealogist 17 (2003): 209-22. Evidence for Mary’s position in the family is explained by Winifred Lovering Holman, Homer–Stevens Notes, Boston, American Genealogist 29 (1953): 1-12, 99-110, esp. 104.
