4043. Cloet

  1. Johannes Cloet (d. 1726) m. Bata Van Slichtenhorst (ca. 1661–aft. 1704); Albany, N. Y.
  2. Anna Cloet (ca. 1682–aft. 1723) m. 1700 Johannes Quackenbosch (ca. 1680–aft. 1723); Albany, Schenectady, N. Y.

The best summary is Jonathan Pearson, Contributions for the Genealogies of the First Settlers of the Ancient County of Albany, from 1630 to 1800 (1872; reprint, Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1984), 31-2. There is no question that Johannes, who married Bata Van Slichtenhorst, was the nephew of Captain Johannes Clute, as stated in the latter’s will: A. J. F. van Laer, transl. and ed., Minutes of the Court of Albany, Rensselaerswyck and Schenectady, 3 vols. (Albany: University of the State of New York, 1926–32), 3:499-501. Unfortunately, the family has not been traced in European sources in enough detail to establish which of the captain’s relatives was Johannes’s father.
