Full essay

Before discovering the origin of Hans Michael (gen. 4) in Unterweissach, I had relied on Burkhart Oertel, Ortssippenbuch der württemburgische Kreisstadt Backnang, 4 vols., Deutsche Ortssippenbücher, ser. A, vols. 262, 263, 354, 392, and Reihe Württembergische Ortssippenbücher, vols. 40, 41, 60, 72 (Neibiberg, Ger.: compiler, 1999–2005), 3:54, 100, 4:70. That discovery led to an extension of the line. The PDF essay linked below summarizes this research, as well as confirmation of Oertel’s findings. Although I necessarily pursue only the children in each family who carry my lineage, I attempt to provide basic chronological information on all of my ancestors’ other children and their spouses.
